“We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.” – Dr. Seuss
Oh February, the month of love. I’m not one to go on hating the silly holiday because I’m bitter for not having a significant other. The world is already a big trash fire, lets celebrate love! So that’s what we’ll be doing for the month of February—celebrating love with posts all about my favorite things!
I always loved Valentine’s day in school. I remember one year, each kid got to put all their valentines into a mail carrier bag and then go around to every paper bag in the class and drop your card inside. It was such a cute and clever way to spread your love. Once You got older, you no longer had to get cards for everyone in your class. I would always get small things for my best friends and spend the school day munching on candy and other sweet treats.
Even now, I still send little cards to my best friends on the other side of the country. We are probably the only people on the planet who still send postcards all-year round, but it feels really nice, you know? To get the mail and see a postcard from a friend just showing that they’re thinking about you. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been having an awful day, either mental health wise or pain wise, and instantly feeling better when I see a postcard in the mail for me. It’s like your friend knew you just needed a little piece of encouragement or recognition.
So! I think you guys should think of some people to send Valentine’s Day cards too. Your parent, a old friend, a coworker, even a stranger!
