20 Questions Book Tag

Tags are a blast. I found this book tag over at The Wordy Habitat, I’ll link her post down below

1. HOW MANY BOOKS IS TOO MANY BOOKS IN A BOOK SERIES?

Ideally, three is the best amount. Anything over four is just excessive, except when it comes to Harry Potter. This is also coming from a girl who rarely reads series.

2. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT CLIFFHANGERS?

They stress me out. If done properly, I can get behind a good cliffhanger as long as its not too cliche. I’m fine with a ending that is a little ambiguous.

3. HARDCOPY OR PAPERBACK?

Hardcover all the way. I used to try to wait for paperbacks to come out, but nothing can compare to the feeling of reading a hardback book.

4. FAVORITE BOOK?

This is like asking me my favorite movie or song! So many choices! Well, Harry Potter is in a class all on its own so I won’t count that,  but I could probably give a top 5? In no particular order:

  1. This Lullaby – Sarah Dessen
  2. Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell
  3. Just Listen – Sarah Dessen
  4. We Were Liars – E. Lockhart
  5. Dumplin – Julie Murphy

5. LEAST FAVORITE BOOK?

Canterbury Tales by Chaucer. I had to read this college and it almost killed me.

6. Love triangles, yes or no?

Sure. I know people are adamantly against the trope, but done right, love triangles storylines can be compelling.

7. THE MOST RECENT BOOK YOU JUST COULDN’T FINISH?

Sadly, it was Jen Wilde’s newest release, The Brightsiders. I had enjoyed her debut, Queens of Geek, last year and really enjoyed it. I just feel that with Brightsiders, Wilde tried to put in a whole lot of story and character traits into the book. If it was more focused, I think it would have been a fine book. I just couldn’t get through it. I had received an ARC through a Goodreads giveaway so at least I didn’t spend any money.

8. A BOOK YOU’RE CURRENTLY READING?

I’ve just started From Twinkle, With Love by Sandhya Menon.

9. LAST BOOK YOU RECOMMENDED TO SOMEONE?

I actually don’t ever recommend books to people. None of my friends share the same taste in books, or they don’t read.

10. OLDEST BOOK YOU’VE READ?

I mean if we’re going literal, it’s probably Beowulf.

11. NEWEST BOOK YOU’VE READ?

Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake and it rocked my world

12. FAVORITE AUTHOR?

Sarah Dessen and Emery Lord are total auto-buy.

13. BUYING BOOKS OR BORROWING BOOKS?

Buying—even though I don’t have the money for that lifestyle.

14. A BOOK YOU DISLIKE THAT EVERYONE ELSE SEEM TO LOVE?

Basically anything fantasy or sci-fi.

15.  BOOKMARKS OR DOG-EARS?

I want to be a bookmark girl—I have tons of them—but I actually will just close the book I’m reading and then find my spot the next time I go to read.

16. A BOOK YOU CAN ALWAYS REREAD?

I’ve read Harry Potter multiple times, especial 3, 5, and 6. Same with my two favorite Sarah Dessen novels

17. CAN YOU READ WHILE HEARING MUSIC?

I used to read with the TV on or music, anything. Since going through all my health issues and ever since brain surgery, I don’t multitask as well as I used to. I’ll sometimes listen to music, especially if I’m in a public place, but at home I got for silence.

18. ONE POV OR MULTIPLE POV’S?

I definitely prefer single POV’s, but when done well, multiple POV’s can make a story open up in a really nice way. For example: The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon and I Have Lost My Way by Gayle Forman.

19. DO YOU READ A BOOK IN ONE SITTING OR OVER MULTIPLE DAYS?

Despite having no job and endless amounts of free time, I usually don’t start reading until 9 or 10 at night. If it’s a short book and I’m in it, I’ll read the whole thing.  Usually I’ll read 60-100 pages a night, so it takes me a few days to read a book.

20. ONE BOOK YOU READ BECAUSE OF THE COVER?

I’ve never really bought books because of their covers, but I have been turned off a book because of the cover. I didn’t read the Anna and the French Kiss series by Stephanie Perkins for the longest time because I thought the covers made it look really childish. Once I saw them with their updated covers, I gave them a chance. Even if they’re a little rom-com cliche, I’m glad I gave them a chance. Such a guilty pleasure.

I’m glad you liked the tag! You’re the first person to say that you didn’t like Brightsiders because all I’ve heard is good things about it.
