August Movie/TV Wrap Up

The month when I finally saw Barbie and The Summer I Turned Pretty became my newest hyperfixation.

Television:

The Summer I Turned Pretty: Season Two – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heartstopper: Season Two – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So technically, I didn’t only watch The Summer I Turned Pretty: Season Two. I had to, of course, rewatch the first season and then I binged the second season again right before the finale. When I get sucked in, I get SUCKED IN! Watching everything just reminded me of everything Jenny Han—author and creator of the show—did to update and expand her original books in such important and significant ways. It has me really excited for next season—whenever that may be—but I swear to God, if she changes the endgame, I will lose it. #TeamConrad.

Movies:

Theater Camp – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Red, White, and Royal Blue – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Barbie – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oppenheimer – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
.5

I finally saw Barbie! It was just as great as I had hoped and certified my love for all things Greta Gerwig. Witty, heartfelt, and hilarious, it was seriously the whole package. Theater Camp was a whole lot of fun. While I wasn’t a theater kid growing up, I was theater kid adjacent so I definitely appreciated the humor. Before going into Oppenheimer, I knew it would be incredibly well done movie. Christopher Nolan movies are always excellent, but they’re long. Clocking in at three hours, I thought I would be way too bored—surprisingly, I wasn’t. While you do acknowledge the length, I was definitely engaged the entire time, despite the science aspects going right over my head. The performances were outstanding and the story was fascinating. Will I see it again? Like all of Nolan’s movies, I won’t—but that doesn’t take away from the quality of the movie.
