Spring Movie/TV Wrap Up

It’s been a while! With packing, moving, and unpacking I haven’t been watching as much scripted content. It’s pretty much been all podcasts or other Youtube videos—how boring, I know. I also just haven’t Beene in the mood of watching quality content? If that makes any sense. I can already tell June is going to be much better.

TV:

Quiet on Set – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Program – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hacks:
Season Three – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bridgerton:
Season Three – Part 1 – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Two very upsetting, but well-done docuseries: Quiet on Set and The Program. Both instances where the adults fail the children they should have been protecting. Both stories continued to unravel as more discoveries were uncovered. Can we stop breaking up already short season in half? We got the first four episodes of the third season of Bridgerton, and just when things were getting good and steamy, we are made to wait a month for the latter episodes. Not fair! I missed seeing more of the stand-up side of Hacks, but I still think that the third season was brilliant.

Movies:

Anatomy of a Fall – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Past Lives – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
First Time Female Director  – ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Suncoast – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Wildflower – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Brandy Hellville – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Challengers –
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Turtles All The Way Down – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Both Anatomy of a Fall and Past Lives I watched to prepare for The Oscars this year, and man were they fantastic. I wish they had won more awards—or any awards when it comes to Past Lives. I still think about Anatomy of a Fall, with its ambiguous ending. Brandy Hellville took me back to the days of the end of high school and through college. As a bigger girl, it was so not made for me, but I could sometimes squeeze into their “one size fits none” sizing. I had heard how toxic it was to work there, but watching the doc just showed how much worse it was, especially now that I am more aware of the downsizes to fast fashion. I was pretty convinced that Zendaya was a powerhouse from her performance in Euphoria, but she solidified it with Challengers. The dynamic between her, Mike Faist, and Josh O’Connor was palpable. Another movie that was dripping with ambiguity.
