Favorite (New) Reads of the Month: Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez AND Funny Story by Emily Henry
Physical:

Funny Story by Emily Henry – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Turtles All The Way Down by John Green (reread) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez are at the top of their game. Instant five stars. When I was reading Just for the Summer, I wasn’t sure what the connection was between that book and the other two in the Part of Your World series. How she weaved the whole series together was masterful and I loved it.
eBooks:

Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Summer Nights and Meteorites by Hannah Reynolds – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Love at First Book by Jenn McKinlay – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lovers and Liars by Amanda Eyre Ward – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
The Calculation of You and Me by Serena Kaylor – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Summertime Punchline by Betty Corrello – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This section is brought to you by SUMMER and LOVE. I DNF’d Serena Kaylor’s debut release a few years ago, but I really loved The Calculation of You and Me. Marlowe was so sure of herself—she knew her and her friends were strange, but they stayed true to themselves. She through writing love letters to her ex, she was discovering that he wasn’t a great guy at all. He would rather she dull down her uniqueness just to “fit in”. Summertime Punchline by Betty Corrello was a fantastic debut romance. Del and Eddie were a great couple and I loved exploring their reconnection—with the few flashbacks from high school sprinkled in as well. Wonderful chemistry and banter. Another book with great chemistry and banter was Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan. I loved how Ethan and Ali discovered parts of themselves as they grew with each other over the length of a summer.
Audiobooks:

Outofshapeworthlessloser by Gracie Gold – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Art of Small Talk by Casey Wilson and Jessica St. Clair – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Eve’s Hollywood by Eve Babitz – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Unboxing of a Black Girl by Angela Shante – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Home Is Not a Country by Safia Elhillo – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Would I usually read a how-to guide—especially one on small talk? Never. Would I read one by crazies like Casey Wilson and Jessica St. Clair? Oh, hell yeah. Home Is Not a Country and The Unboxing of a Black Girl were both poetry collections—one memoir, the other fiction—centered around young women of color as they discover themselves and how people may perceive them.
