Mighty with Migraine

June is National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month. Wear purple to show your support for advocacy, education, and research.

IMG_0623I am mighty with migraine because even though its been 10+ years, I’m still here. I graduated high school, graduated college, lived on my own, became a fur mama, and still found a way to visit Disney pretty regularly.  It may take me a little longer than most, but I’m going to fight for what I want in life.

I am mighty because I have to be. There is nothing that’s going to change the inevitable. Unless scientists come up with some sort of cure in the next few years—doctor friends, get to work! This is something I will have for the rest of my life. So even though at times it can all get to be too much, I press on because there is nothing else I can do. Headaches have taken over my life: missed celebrations, concert, jobs, opportunities in general and as much as it hurts that I can’t live the life I want because of chronic pain, I’m grateful that I’m still here. That I’ve survived.

People have a hard time of truly understand. Take the time to listen and understand that this is never just a headache. This debilitating disorder affects me mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally—it’s exhausting.

Don’t judge. Show support where you can, and when you can.
