December Wrap Up: Movies/TV

A little disappointing…

Usually during December, most of the movies being pushed for award considerations are released. This year felt very lackluster. In past years, my family is seeing movies every few days because there are so many options to choose from.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Season 3 – ♥♥♥♥
John Mulaney and the Sack Lunch Bunch – ♥♥♥♥♥

I love The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but I do think this season was it’s weakest. I thought the final episode was its best, especially the confrontation scene between Benjamin (Zachary Levi) and Midge. I also love any and all scenes with Lenny Bruce. John Mulaney’s newest special  plays homage to children’s after school specials you would find on PBS, like Sesame Street—and it was fucking hilarious. I can’t gush about this enough. I hope he does more.

The Santa Clause – ♥♥♥♥♥
Let it Snow – ♥♥
Bombshell – ♥♥♥.5
Little Women – ♥♥♥♥♥
Knives Out – ♥♥♥♥♥

Knives Out and Little Women were two of my favorites of the year. I was so excited and couldn’t wait for these movies to come out and I was not disappointed. The storytelling, the performances—they’re just perfect. I watch The Santa Clause every year, and every year I find little jokes that I missed when I was younger. Let It Show was pretty disappointing. I think the original book was fine, but the movie made it look like an award winning novel. The changes they made were just unnecessary and unwanted.
