First Lines Friday is a way to feature your current read by posting the first lines of the book. Every Friday in my timeline I see tons of these posts and I thought, why not join!
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!

This is the first page—first poem—in shine your icy crown, the new book in the “you are your own fairy tale series” by amanda lovelace. I’ve been a huge fan of her previous poetry collections because they cover really impactful and hard-hitting topics through the guise of fairy tales and villains. I’m so excited to dive into the new collection!

“Make them rue the day they underestimated you.”
This is a story about not letting society dictate the limits of your potential. it’s time to take back your power & realize that you don’t need a king in order to be a queen.
