July Movie/TV Wrap Up

I support the WGA/SAG strikes and you should too!

TV:

Shrinking – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Summer I Turned Pretty: Season One
(rewatch) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Created by Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel, and Brett Goldstein? Sign me up! I loved this show so much, it actually made me enjoy Harrison Ford in something. Had to do a rewatch of TSITP before the second season. It still made me cry, still made me swoon. Team Conrad!

Movies:

Asteroid City – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Take Care of Maya – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Elemental – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Girl in the Picture
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Was Asteroid City my favorite Wes Anderson movie? No, but I still had a lot of fun. I loved that it was frames as a play and the cast was spectacular. It was quintessential Wes Anderson. Elemental was also a lot of fun too—a sort of romantic comedy with underlying themes of racism and familial obligation. When watching Take Care of Maya, I was equally as sad as I was mad. Telling the story of the nightmare a family goes through when trying to find a diagnosis for their daughter’s unexplained pain, the documentary showed what happened when parents were accused of child abuse when ER doctors didn’t believe in a rare diagnosis and unorthodox treatments. Cried like a baby.
