October Wrap Up

I can’t really talk much about any of these because they are all mystery/thrillers.

Physical:

They Never Learn by Layne Fargo – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
One of Us is Back by Karen M. McManus – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Black Queen by Jumata Emill – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
What Lies in the Woods by Kate Alice Marshall – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Whispers by Ashley Audrain – ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I did not see the twist in Daisy Darker coming at all—made me really want to immediately do a reread to catch any clues. I loved being along with the crew of In My Dreams I Hold a Knife by Ashley Winstead as they too are learning who killed one of their own. I loved the cast. Another college set book, They Never Learn by Layne Fargo, played with timeline in an incredible way that I only caught the twist right before it was revealed. I was disappointed that I didn’t enjoy Ashley Audrain’s sophomore novel The Whispers as much as I devoured her debut. She seems to be one of those authors where her books just aren’t for everyone. I was thinking about Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll for weeks after I read it. I new all time favorite.

eBooks:

Everyone Here is Lying by Shari Lapena – ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Only One Left by Riley Sager – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
One a Quiet Street by Seraphina Nova Glass – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Little Secrets by Jennifer Hillier – ⭐️⭐️⭐️
.5

The Only One Left by Riley Sager is another book that I could not stop thinking about. So far, Riley Sager’s books are the only one’s that felt actually spooky. So many twists!

Audiobooks:

An Impossible Thing to Say by Arya Shahi – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Last Girl Breathing by Court Stevens – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Salt the Water by Candice Iloh – ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Coraline by Neil Gaiman – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Coraline was a dream to listen to! Especially because it was being read by Neil Gaiman. Last Girl Breathing had me on the edge of my seat. Court Stevens never had you settle on one suspect for too long, but held convincing arguments as to who in the long list of names could have pulled off the crime. Salt the Water by Candice Iloh would have been great if it hadn’t pulled a huge 180 before ending abruptly. I thought my audiobook had skipped.
