Favorite (New) Reads of the Month: When the World Tips Over by Jandy Nelson AND Intermezzo by Sally Rooney

Physical:

Shred Sisters by Betsy Lerner –⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lost and Lassoed by Lyla Sage – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Intermezzo by Sally Rooney – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nothing Like the Movies by Lynn Painter – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
When the World Tips Over by Jandy Nelson – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
How to End a Love Story by Yulin Kuang – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have I found my new favorite Sally Rooney? I usually get through a book in 2-3 days, but Intermezzo took me over five. The book was dense and wither writing style lacking quotation marks, the blocks of text can be daunting. However, this was her most moving and heartfelt piece of work she’s ever done. The world has been waiting for a new Jandy Nelson book for YEARS and boy, was this worth the wait. When the World Tips Over was pure magic—imagery so vivid and characters that were distinctively genuine. I was fully on board for the magical realism because of how incredible Nelson’s writing. It makes me sad that so many people won’t ever read this just because it’s shelved in YA. Did we need this sequel to Better than the Movies? No. Doesn’t mean I didn’t love Nothing Like the Movies! Give me more YA in college!

eBooks:

Swift and Saddled by Lyla Sage – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Situationship by Abby Jimenez –
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I seem to be reading Lyla Sage’s Rebel Blue Ranch series backwards, but it’s been a lot of fun!

Audiobooks:

Lifeform by Jenny Slate – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
White Supremacy Is All Around by Akilah Cadet – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Outrun by Amy Liptrot –
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jenny Slate is like no other human being and her collection of essays, Lifeform, perfectly encompasses that. Her musings on finding love, being pregnant, and motherhood were just as joyful and weird as she is.
