August Movie/TV Wrap Up

I have been itching for a New Girl rewatch for a while now and it was such a great decision. I love that show so much. I could watch Jake Johnson as Nick Miller for years and be a happy girl. It’s rare to have a show where every main character is strong and hilarious. Two other shows I watched this month with extremely strong casts were The Morning Show and Succession. I’m going to write a more in depth look into these two shows later this month but suffice it to say, I’m obsessed. The second season of DuckTales was just as good as the first, maybe even better.

I’ve really be focusing on TV for the past month since the Emmy’s are at the end of the month, but I did manage to squeeze in some picks. Howard takes a look at the short albeit successful life of Howard Ashman—the man responsible for the music from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Every few months, Netflix comes out with a new female centric rom-com: Ibiza, Someone Great, and now Desperados. Despite my love for Nasim Pedrad and Lamorne Morris—hello, New Girl reunion—this was just lackluster and unfunny. I found a bootleg copy of Six: The Musical on YouTube and the quality actually wasn’t bad. It’s such a fun show and the music is top notch. I hope to see it live one day.

That’s my August watchlist! September will still be heavy on the TV content as the Emmy’s get closer, but I hope to finish it off with lots and lots of movies.
