January Movie/TV Wrap Up

TV:

Ginny and Georgia: Season Two – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Fleishman is in Trouble – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I feel like the second season of Ginny and Georgia took ages to come out. I really enjoyed this season and I loved the exploration of self harm and depression. Can’t wait to see what happens next. I watched Fleishman is in Trouble in one day so instead of a show, it felt more like an 8-hour movie about affluent New Yorkers having a mid-life crisis . Wonderful performances by all—especially by Jesse Eisenberg and Lizzy Caplan. I haven’t read the book, but I can just tell that it was adapted very well.

Movies:

Aftersun⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Women Talking⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Birdcage (rewatch) – ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Paul Mescal is such a gem and I’m so happy he was nominated for Aftersun. His performance was absolutely heartbreaking. Women Talking makes assault even more impactful by not actually showing the assault being done, just the aftereffects. If you didn’t know, The Birdcage is my favorite movie of all time. I saw it for the first time when I was really young—I’m talking six-years-old—and ever since it’s been a favorite. A local theater held a showing of the movie for a fundraiser for a LGBTQIA organization so I was finally able to see it on the big screen and with a big crowd. I had the best time.
