It’s that time of year again!
As per usual, I’m indecisive and will probably have more than one answer for each question.
Best book you’ve read so far in 2021

Most of my five stars where at the beginning of the year—I’ve been in a kind of reading slump when it comes to favorites, or maybe I’m getting stingy with my five stars. These three just blew me away. Even better than the author’s previous work—something I didn’t think was possible.
Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2021

I don’t read a lot of series, but I did read a bunch of books in Jasmine Guillory’s Wedding Date series. My favorite so far is third installment. We love a good enemies-to-lovers romance! A poetry series is still a series, so technically Shine Your Icy Crown counts as a sequel….right?
New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
I’ve got a stack of new releases gathering dust on my floor as we speak. These are the biggies that I’ve yet to get to:

Most anticipated release for the second half of the year

Biggest disappointment

It wasn’t that I was disappointed, I just think their other work is so much stronger and I expected more.
Biggest Surprise

I always thought I would enjoy these, but they ended up being absolute favorites of mine. Honey Girl seemed to be marketed as a straight romance, but it was so much more—really a character study with a small romantic subplot. I was wary about One Last Stop because of the magical element but it was done so perfectly and felt so real.
Favorite New Author (Debut or New To You)
You know, I think it may be too early to tell. The authors that come to mind are first time authors and it’s just too soon to tell if they’ll end up being a new favorite.
Newest Fictional Crush
I’m much too old to have fictional crushes, especially when I’ve been living in a Jake Johnson world for the past two years…
Newest favorite character

The Rivas family was so much fun to read about. Really all thee random characters that filter in and out of the book were a blast to see as the party got increasingly crazier and crazier.
Book that made you cry

These two got me good. Especially listening to the audiobook of Chanel Miller telling her story. I couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Book that made you happy

I love comedy memoirs!!!
The most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
This is a book that needs to be seen in person to really get how cool it looks, especially naked.

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
These are some ARCs I have left to read before the year is up:

Favorite book to movie adaptation you’ve seen this year?

Sad to say goodbye to this series. I will for sure miss Lara Jean, Peter, and the whole crew, but the series is so watchable that I wouldn’t be surprised if it didn’t watch it every year just for the good feels.
Brilliant post! There are quite a few books on here that I really want to get around to! Particularly Amelia Unabridged and Instructions for Dancing!
